Police, at both state and national level, have carried out several arrests and property seizures relating to text message fraud, as part of a national day of action.
Policing agencies across the nation joined forces as part of the AFP-led Joint Policing Cybercrime Coordination Centre efforts.
Six people were arrested, four in NSW and two in Victoria, and dozens of illegal SIM boxes seized.
SIM boxes are used by cyber criminals to commit large-scale SMS attacks, sending millions of scam text messages, by using malware or sharing personal information.
The scams target Australians through their banking or government-affiliated online accounts.
