As Ukraine and Russia began a new round of U.S.-mediated peace talks in Geneva, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Russia may be preparing a large-scale attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and urged international partners to accelerate the delivery of air defense systems.
According to intelligence reports, Russian forces may deploy drones and missiles simultaneously, targeting Ukraine’s electricity grid and other critical energy facilities. Zelensky stressed that any delay in air defense support could result in greater destruction and called on allies to swiftly fulfill aid commitments made during the Munich Security Conference.
This marks the third round of U.S.-brokered negotiations, involving senior representatives from Ukraine, Russia, and the United States, aimed at seeking a breakthrough in the nearly four-year conflict. However, major disagreements remain over territorial issues. Russia continues to demand full control over the eastern Donbas region, while Ukraine firmly rejects any territorial concessions. Recent Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy networks and urban infrastructure have caused power outages and water disruptions in some areas. Meanwhile, Ukraine has launched drone strikes against strategic targets, including Russian Black Sea ports, intensifying the military confrontation between the two countries.
