An ABC investigation has found South Australian candidate Bruce Preece has been accused of domestic abuse, including a charge of breaching an intervention order. Another candidate, Tyler Green, has made more than a dozen antisemitic, racist or homophobic posts on social media over the past six years.
Preece has been subjected to interim intervention orders for domestic abuse between 2012 and 2020, with court records showing he was charged with breaching the protection order at least once. While Green has published more than a dozen extremist posts on social media, including comments about “Jewish bankster wars” and promoting Holocaust conspiracy book, ‘The Six Million: Fact or Fiction?’.
Pollster and former Labor candidate vetter Kos Samaras said while parties often rely on candidates to disclose charges or other criminal matters, good vetting processes create ‘reverse dirt units’ to unearth information which might undermine candidates’ ability to run for election. However, One Nation has declined to answer any questions about Preece or Green.
