Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have returned to Australia for the first time in eight years, beginning a four-day visit across multiple cities.

The trip is not an official royal visit but is classified as private and commercial in nature. However, police will still provide security support.

The couple will travel to Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney, with a focus on mental health, community resilience and veteran support. Their itinerary includes visits to charities and partner organisations, as well as private meetings and public speaking engagements.

In Melbourne, they are scheduled to visit the Royal Children’s Hospital and a veterans’ arts organisation, while Prince Harry will also attend an event linked to Movember. In Canberra, he will visit the Australian War Memorial, meet Indigenous veterans and take part in a commemorative ceremony. He will then return to Melbourne to reunite with Meghan for cultural and mental health-related events. The final stop will be Sydney, where the pair are expected to attend sporting events and related activities.

Compared with their 2018 tour, the current visit will not include large-scale public walkabouts, largely due to crowd management and security cost considerations. New South Wales Police said additional measures would be put in place to ensure public safety.

Since stepping back from their roles as senior members of the British royal family in 2020, the couple have relocated to the United States and no longer undertake official royal duties. The visit is seen as part of their efforts to rebuild ties with Australia in a private capacity, while continuing their involvement in charitable and public causes.
