YouTubers Face Police Probe After Filming Inside Dezi Freeman’s Hideout

Police say they are investigating reports of trespass after YouTubers filmed inside the shipping container where fugitive Dezi Freeman made his last stand.

Freeman was shot dead by police at a remote property near the Murray River at Thologolong, in Victoria’s north-east, in March. He had been hiding out in a converted shipping container after fatally shooting two police officers at his property at Porepunkah in August.

YouTubers have published videos filmed inside the shipping container and around the property. In the videos, they say they accessed the property to retrieve a drone, showing the squalid conditions inside the shipping container, which is filled with clothing, personal items and bedding.

The video has drawn the attention of Victoria Police, after receiving a report of trespassing on April 16 and currently carrying out an investigation. Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan criticised the YouTubers, saying the video was “disrespectful” to the police force and the late police officers’ families.
