Dear Readers,

Australia is divided into two parts: the Covid-19 infected Victoria and the Covid-19 threatened others.

In NSW, your home and outside gathering cannot accommodate more than 20 guests at the same time, while a public sports event can have at most 500 participants. Weddings can have at most 150 guests and church worship at most 100 attendants. In restaurants and other venues, you need to have a marshal to oversee social distancing with the capacity of over 250 people. All diners must provide their name and contact details, including a phone number or email address, to allow for contact tracing.

For Tasmania, all travellers from the other states, including returning residents, must quarantine for 14 days upon the arrival. Non-Tasmanian residents must carry out their quarantine in government-provided accommodation.

For South Australia, people from Queensland, WA, the NT and Tasmania can enter South Australia without having to quarantine for 14 days.

The most important thing is, no matter where you are, the four-square metres social distancing rule must be observed. That is, all Australians are still living in a restricted way.

Poor Victorians except with permitted reasons for essential services must stay at home in isolation. Premier Daniel announced the road map to re-open on 6 September and assured Victorians would be in this state until 26 October. The only comfort is that the condition of lockdown will be eased a bit after 28 September. We are giving you more details about this road map in this issue of BlessingCALD.

The bright side of this road map is that we see there is hope, and a plan to re-open Melbourne after we are assured that the pandemic situation is under control now.

What Australians need now is more assurance from the governments on when we can have vaccines to prevent the threat from virus, how we can live in a normal condition, and the confidence to rebuild our broken and fallen economy?

To gain trust and cooperation from Australians, our leaders must listen to the pains of the people and give them sufficient support and help. Our leaders need courage, wisdom, and passion to work with other leaders together to face this challenge. May our leaders be blessed to be great leaders.
