Dear Readers,
Melbourne is in stage 4 lockdown for over 4 weeks. Premier Daniel Andrews will announce a road map on restriction on 6 September after more data are collected. It is the hope Victorians can have on the last day of winter. But Premier Daniel Andrews reminded people that the road map would be about what might happen months ahead.
Yes, it is obvious to everyone that the present infection figures are too high to reopen Melbourne. Melburnians are isolated from Australians in other states who are starting to go back to normal life with caution. The rocketed deaths especially from our seniors in aged care facilities reminded people that Covid-19 virus is still quietly spreading among us, even though we cannot see it. Our lives in every aspect are still under its threat.
We need to learn to live with Covid-19. The way we work, study, exercise, shop, socialize and every aspect of our lives will be affected. The face mask will not go away unless we find and immunised with effective vaccine. Many of us will still work from home and have Zoom meetings every day. Teachers will continue preparing work for students and checking their progress in their daily online meetings and fellow students will only chat over the camera in front of their computers. Visiting each other will be restricted and you will treasure the opportunity to have a cup of tea with friends. Holiday outside Australia will still be a dream in the coming year. That is why we need to prepare for this big change.
