U.S President Donald Trump was taken to Walter Reed Medical Centre on Friday evening after he tested positive for COVID-19 early Friday morning and developed a fever and cough later in the day, the White House announced.

Trump shared a video on Friday night, filmed before he left the White House but posted to Twitter after he had left. In it, he said he was going to the hospital and said: “I think I’m doing very well, but we’re going to make sure things work out.”

He thanked people for their “tremendous support”.

Joe Biden recently attended a presidential debate against President Donald Trump ahead of the 2020 election. So is he also tested positive?

Don’t worry. Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and his wife have tested negative for the novel coronavirus, their primary care physician said in a statement Friday. Biden got tested for the virus, shortly after President Donald Trump tested positive for it.

Trump and Biden were socially distanced but neither were wearing masks while on stage. One of Trump’s closest advisers, Hope Hicks, was also at the debate and travelled to and from the venue with Trump and several of his family members, aides, and campaign officials, most of whom were maskless.
