Last year was bleak. So this April Fool’s Day everyone from government agencies to brands jumped at the chance to generate some laughs in 2021.

Many organisations created their own promotional videos or press releases to test the credulity of the Australian public. Bring you the best and worst of this year’s jokes.

 

Animal jokes never get old

Adrian Schrinner, the Brisbane lord mayor, named the bin chicken as a city emblem.

 

A taste too far

The sandwich giant wants us to believe they have a “coriander cookie” being launched in Aussie stores today. 

 

 

Dare and Vegemite

Two Aussie icons have united to come up with this monstrosity of an product. Dubbing it the “coffee that tastes like Australia” — Dare coffee and Vegemite have created a joke drink combining the two flavours.

 

 

Burger King

Overseas, Burger King announced they’d be putting everything on sourdough — even their milkshakes.

 

 

 

 

Deliveroo

Deliveroo tried to pull the wool over our eyes, saying they had a technological breakthrough which gives pets the ability to order food for their owners.
