The latest infection number today in NSW is 145. The more horrible news is that 51 of these cases were in the community while infectious. Obviously, the lockdown in NSW is not hard enough to contain the virus. Premier Berejiklian issued a new appeal for people not to mix with other households. Even NSW has been in lockdown for 4 weeks, not all residents are aware of the importance of isolation. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews had called for a “ring of steel” around Sydney. Prime Minister rejected the call. Will the present situation lead to a more extensive restriction policy? We still have to wait and see.
However, people who claimed Covid-19 was a hoax went to demonstrations for anti-lockdown in Sydney and Melbourne last Saturday. The reality is that young people can still die after catching Covid-19.
Adriana Midori Takara, 38, a Brazillian national studying in Sydney had no underlying health conditions but her condition deteriorated quickly after contracting the Delta strain died in 10 days. Adriana was well remembered by her friends in Sydney and family in Brazil. Many young people had received the misinformation that Covid-19 did not kill, at least not the young. But this is not true.
Delta strain of Covid-19 virus spreads faster than people can imagine and now looks to be more aggressive. Full vaccination looks to be able to protect lives. ATAGI (Australian Technical Advisory Group of Immunization) has changed its advice to NSW residents to that receiving full vaccination with any vaccine, will be recommended. Medical experts do not guess the probability of the possible spread of Delta strain in Australia. But they now know that spread of the Delta strain virus in NSW, if not stopped, will kill more people. If the virus does not stop in NSW, all other states will be affected.
Now the NSW is a national disaster. Everyone must work hard and fast to stop it.
We need more vaccines. We need more people to be vaccinated, no matter it is Pfizer or AstraZeneca.
