OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently warned about the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology at a conference hosted by the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed). He said that as AI systems surpass human capabilities in areas such as language processing and customer service, a large number of jobs are at risk of being replaced in the future.
In particular, Ottman pointed out that the customer service industry and other low-skilled jobs may be the first to bear the brunt, bringing about significant changes in the socio-economic structure. He called on the government to actively intervene, formulate corresponding regulatory policies, and increase investment in AI-related infrastructure and talent training.
Altman also advocated that while developing AI, it is necessary to ensure the safety and ethical standards of technology use to avoid uncontrolled technology or unexpected negative impacts. Altman’s speech drew widespread attention from the political and industrial sectors, discussing how to strike a balance between promoting technological advancement and protecting the rights of workers.
