The U.S. Department of Justice recently made a formal request for an interview with Ghislaine Maxwell. Maxwell was a close ally and key figure in the case against the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Maxwell is accused of playing a central role in Epstein’s sex trafficking network by helping him recruit, manipulate and exploit underage girls. She not only acted as a facilitator and organizer of several criminal activities, but is also accused of using her social circle to provide protection and cover for Epstein. The DOJ investigation revealed that Maxwell was responsible for arranging trips and meetings with the victims and helped to keep the criminal network running.

The Department of Justice hopes to obtain more information about Epstein’s criminal network and other possible associates through the interviews. The move also raises questions about past investigations and raises concerns about the way the Epstein case has been handled under the Trump administration.

Maxwell had previously been convicted and was serving his sentence, but the information and testimony he had was still highly valuable. The Department of Justice’s involvement at this time indicates that the investigation into the case is continuing and may lead to further legal action.
