With the infected cases not yet coming down, it is clear that NSW and Victoria will not re-open this week.
In the lockdown in NSW and Victoria, we see that the cases in both states are not exploding. But it will be quite a while that the cases will come down to a single digit. Over 12 million people are now in lockdown and nobody will feel happy with and need support.
Far-right UK commentator Katie Hopkins was allowed to enter Australia last week but she did not think so. While in breach of the hotel quarantine, she had bragged her plans to flout quarantine rules in social media and earned her express ticket to be out of Australia. Her attitude and disrespect towards those fighting hard to keep Australia clean from the virus were seen to be offending to all Australians.
Yes, Covid is a battle being fought everywhere around the world. During the past 18 months, through the immense cost we have already paid, we learned about the various weapons that can be used in this war. Social distancing and sanitisers are the protective weapons that we are using to protect ourselves most of the time. Once the virus is discovered to have broken in, testing, isolation, quarantine, and contact tracing are the attacking weapons that we can use to eliminate the virus from spreading.
However, it is also clear that Delta and other variants of the virus have immensely increased the attacking power of the virus. The only ultimate weapon that the world can win this battle with coronavirus is vaccine immunization. With 1 million doses of Pfizer coming to Australia every week, if we can overcome vaccine hesitancy and increase the vaccination rate as quickly as possible, Australia can emerge from this pandemic soon.
While we are still in lockdown, we should place our hope in such a possibility.
We hope that blessing of God will help Australia to be out from this pandemic safely and quickly.
